Xiangling is extremely powerful but very cooldown reliant, also her burst is hard to time to get the most reactions off, worry not Xiangling, Chongyun is here to save the day!, by using Chongyun's elemental skill then swithching to Xiangling, attacking, and then bursting, you'll be able to melt almost every hit of your burst as long as you continue attacking, Chongyun will be very happy with Gouba's help too, for that tasty triple Cryo melt.
-
Kaeya is a great F2P main DPS, but having a mixed profile sometimes is a curse, which goblet to use: Cryo, Physical, or just an attack one? Chongyun is extremely skilled at solving these identity issues, by making full use of Chongyuns elemental skill you'll transform your Kaeya from a so-so fighter into an ice cold killer!, there's a lot more at play here depending on your constellations, but rest assured this combination won't dissapoint.
-
Beidou is yet another character that shines with proper teamplay, she benefits a lot from super conduct and Cooldown Reduction!
-
Keqing yet another character with an identity crisis, who is played as a Cryo, Pyro, or Physical carry.
Super conduct will do wonders for her Physical side, and Cryo Keqing wouldn't be possible without Chongyun, everyone's friend. -
Xingqiu does love having lower CD on his elemental skill and burst, you can make enemies chill in place..forever. by combining Chongyun's Spirit Blade: Chonghua's Layered Frost and Xingqiu's Guhua Sword - Raincutter, the order of attacks matters in this composition so you want to be attacking with Xingqiu so Chongyun doesn't shatter everyone!(unless you are ready to invest in a shatter comp, which again this pairing does better than anyone else).
-
Bennett and Chongyun are excellent partners, Bennett's strong Pyro application allows for Chongyun's burst to melt with every blade, These two supports form one of the most incredible duos in the game with great offensive synergy.
-
Diluc really loves being paired with Cryo characters, Chongyun is not an exception. Diluc will have a hard time using Chong's elemental skill once his infusion is up though, a small price to pay compared to the benefits: increased attack speed, improved cooldown reduction and all the melts Diluc desires to create.
►Summary
Pros:
- Cryo infusion is very good against elemental shields.
- 100% aura uptime with Sacrificial Greatsword.
- Good multipliers when supported and build for damage.
Cons:
- Not many characters can take advantage of his Aura.
- His supporting ability while good doesn't really offer anything special, just as his damage while good it is not too good.
Building tips:
- Chongyun doesn't work too well in freeze comps so his artifact set options are limited to this day, he makes decent use of sets like Gladiator's Finale, Emblem of Severed Fate, and Shimenawa's Reminiscence, but each option will make one part of his kit shine while nerfing other parts. While this is a problem it also gives the player the freedom to choose whichever best pieces they have of these sets and his damage output won't be severely affected.
- He has a great array of options to select as his weapon, he makes great use of most Substats bar Elemental Mastery. His most consistent Claymore as a support is the Sacrificial Greatsword, which will let him have his Frost Field up almost all of the time.
Gameplay tips:
- In situations where you want to deplete elemental shields quickly using your Frozen Field, you are better off switching your team members around as each of them will have their own Basic attack ICD.
- When your elemental skill summons its final blade it'll be the best time to fire your elemental burst given that this blade decreases the opponent's Cryo res by 10%.
- The Cryo infusion generated by his skill will last 3 seconds after you leave the field. This also makes it so at C2 Chongyun's field will have 100% uptime even without Sacrificial Greatsword.
- Hitting enemies with your skill is important as this will generate 4 Cryo particles for your party.
Constellations power:
- This is very poor damage with very little uptime.
- This is an interesting Constellation and a very rare modifier, if your team can include Chongyun without many issues this should mean an increase in DPS by about 17%( unless your team relies a lot on basic attacks).
- Early boost to Chong's burst damage, his burst while hard-hitting is hard to melt with completely unless you play him with very specific Pyro characters.
- 1 energy every 2 seconds is pretty bad.
- More power to his bread and butter. If you can get it do it but it's not a game-changer.
- Good constellation, it sounds better than it is though, 4 blades are harder to melt than 3, and his damage while worded as multiplicative is only a 15% additive.
