Mona has a stablished career as a youtuber in one shot reels, Hu Tao is, up to date, the hardest hitting Pyro character in the game, combine these two to make every boss in the game contemplate their life choices.
-
Everyone knows by now what Bennett does in combination with Mona they are part of the trinity, you'll want to burst with him before bursting with Mona, for that big money damage!
-
Everyone knows by now what Sucrose does in combination with Mona, part of the trinity, you want to swirl with her before bursting with Bennet, for those big viewership numbers!
-
Diluc makes full use of Mona AoE Hydro application, and his burst has a very decent scaling while being Pyro to boot, for those huge vaporize numbers!
-
Ganyu's huge AoE capabilities combined with Mona'ss huge AoE capabilities means that your enemies won't be moving too much while you nuke them with Ganyu's high caliber arrows and Mona's highly powered spells
-
Zhongli has an extremely powerful burst, he can be played in a comp combined with mona, he generates a ton of energy for your team, allowing them to keep bursting one after the other, while improving your damage output with his resistances shred.
-
Freeze comps are just broken in Genshin Impact, their only issue is that there are only two viable Cryo characters for this playstyle, Ganyu and Kaeya, Kaeya is a very self suficient character that generates a lot of elemental particles, helping Mona keep her energy up.
-
Albedo can also be played in a quickswap comp with mona, given his extremely powerful burst and good energy regeneration for your whole team, on top of that he offers your team free Elemental Mastery which benefits Mona a lot as well as any other team members.
►Summary
Pros:
- an excellent sub DPS that has all you can ask for, a taunt, a damage buff, very good energy generation.
- Hydro is a very versatile element that offers offensive and defensive options and Mona applies it plentifully in AoE.
Cons:
- Has gaps in the Hydro application which are supposed to be covered by her special dash, which leads us to the next point.
- As a sub DPS having to use her dash would make the team lose a lot of damage and Omen time.
Building tips:
- Mona's best role is as a sub DPS with very high ratios and a party wide damage buff, for this role her best set is the Emblem of Severed Fate x4, she can also play as a main DPS especially with constellations for this role she can make great use of the Heart of Depth x4 set.
- Mona as a sub DPS with strong ratios wants mostly ATK and Crit stats, she makes great use of the Energy Recharge substat thanks to her passive Waterborne Destiny which will allow her to 20% of her Energy Recharge as Hydro DMG Bonus.
- Mona can make great use of any weapon that gives her her preferred substats and Crit or ATK weapon, Mappa Mare is a notable exception to this given its high base ATK for a 4-star weapon and its Elemental DMG Bonus passive.
Gameplay tips:
- Mona has a lot of mechanics that are not well explained in the game:
- First is the Omen extension mechanic, if an enemy affected by Illusory Bubble is frozen the bubble won't pop until the enemy it's unfrozen, this means that you can extend Omen debuff for as long as you can keep the enemy frozen.
- Second is that Mona's Elemental Burst Stellaris Phantasm applies Hydro twice, once on cast and once when the bubble is bursted, thanks to this, special care has to be taken when trying to Vaporize her burst damage. The so called perfect combo is like this: first Apply Pyro -> cast Mona's burst to create a vaporize reaction that will clear both Hydro and Pyro from the opponent -> wait two seconds for mona's burst ICD to expire so it can apply Hydro again to the enemy -> attack the enemy with a Pyro attack to apply Pyro -> Mona's burst will detonate applying Hydro, which combined with the Pyro application in the previous step will create a Vaporize reaction for a ton of damage.
- Mona can have a 100% Hydro application uptime application if you take advantage of her alternative dash and her passive Come 'n' Get Me, Hag!.
constellations power:
- This works wonders for Freeze comps but also doesn't affect Mona's burst damage.
- Random charged attacks unusable for Vaporize.
- More levels for your burst, thanks to all her Bonus damage and access to Vaporize Mona's burst is one of the hardest scaling in the game.
- Free crit damage especially useful on Freeze comps, this will allow you to stack even more Crit DMG on your Cryo carries than before.
- Skill levels.
- Main DPS mona sees a small boost.
